Job Title: Student Worker - Summer Camp - Cyber Security Summer Camp Counselor

Work Schedule: 8 AM to 5 PM, during dates 06/15/2026-06/26/2026

Desired Length of Employment: 60-80 hours total (6/15/2026 - 6/26/2026 -- Summer Camp week + training week) (40 hours a week minus June 19th holiday)

Pay Rate: $17/hr

Position Purpose:
Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper. The Counselor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities, as well as guiding campers in the development of cybersecurity skills.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Camper Supervision and Guidance

  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers during activities and throughout camp to meet intended camper outcomes.
  • Apply basic youth development principles when working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, and youth involvement and empowerment.
  • Ensure campers are properly supervised at all times.
  • Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.

2. Program Development and Implementation

  • Participate in the development and implementation of program activities aligned with the camp's mission and outcomes.
  • Lead and assist with the teaching of activities.
  • Actively participate in all program areas as assigned.
  • Support the progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities.
  • Assist in all camp activities as directed.

3. Health and Safety

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
  • Provide daily care for each camper under your supervision, including recognition of personal health needs.
  • Remain alert to camper and staff needs and assist with personal and/or health issues; discuss concerns with the Camp Director as appropriate.
  • Monitor equipment and facilities to ensure proper use, care, and maintenance; promptly report needed repairs to the Camp Director.

4. Professional Conduct

  • Serve as a role model to campers and staff through positive attitude and behavior.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Set a positive example regarding camp policies, procedures, and practices.


Other Job Duties

  • Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communications as requested.
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, including planning and leading assigned activities.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise all-camp activities and functions.
  • Assist with the planning of special events.


Equipment Used

  • Information technology used for camp labs and competitions


Qualifications (Minimum Education and Experience)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate
  • Ability to interact effectively with all age levels


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in designated camp program areas


Physical Aspects of the Job

  • Ability to communicate and work with groups of varying ages and skill levels, and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
  • Ability to observe camper behavior, assess appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.

  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and activity-related hazards.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately in first aid and emergencies (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury). Must possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers and be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
