The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs.

This position will assist in the Human Resources department at the LA Special School District. The incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative support such as filing, making copies, front desk support, etc. and will participate in ongoing projects in the department. The ideal candidate for this position will be dependable, able to shift priorities quickly, and demonstrate an interest in the human resources profession.

Examples of duties

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution at the undergraduate or graduate level, Human Resources, Public Administration or related field preferred,etc.
  • Must exhibit a professional and friendly manner.
  • Must maintain a clean and professional appearance.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work with the HR Professionals with various projects.

Qualifications

  • Filing.
  • Assistant to the administrative coordinator.
  • Making copies.
  • Making new hire folders.
  • Answering the phone and routing calls.
  • Front desk support in the absence of the Administrator Coordinator.
  • Various projects as they arise.

*Other tasks as they arise per the agency/department need.

Location: The Human Resources Department at the LA Special School District in Baton Rouge, LA.

Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. But hours will be flexible based on agency/department need per the supervisor.
