Student Worker - Campus Recreation
The Blinn College District is searching for a Student Worker - Campus Recreation at our Brenham Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
This student worker position involves all
aspects of recreation facilities operations in the Kruse Center; assisting with
the supervision of member services, cardio/weight room, athletic events,
intramural sports, and other recreation activities.
Principal Accountabilities
- Supervise students and enforce facility rules in the
Kruse Center. - Provide customer service
to the patrons of the Kruse Center. - Check
out and manage sports equipment in the Kruse Center. - Assist Coordinator of Campus Recreation during intramural sport events and other recreation activities.
- Provide knowledge of weight room and proper lifting techniques to students working out in the cardio/weight room.
- Assist with game management of Blinn College home
athletic events. - Maintain a safe, clean, and functional facility.
- Attends all relevant trainings, meetings, and other events
relevant to the Kruse Center. - Other responsibilities and functions as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
- Must be Federal Work Study eligible and enrolled as at least a half time student at Blinn College.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Ability to work late nights and weekends.
- General knowledge of sports and recreation activities.
- General knowledge of weight equipment and lifting techniques.
Minimum Competencies
- Maintain open and clear communication effectively with faculty, staff, students, athletes, coaches, outside contractors, visiting teams, and general public.
- Maintain a schedule adaptable to program needs.
- Ability to understand, follow and implement written, verbal and demonstrated instructions.
- Computer skills, general knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a fitness/recreation facility.
- Experience supervising others.
Preferred Competencies
- Knowledge of a variety of sports to the extent of being able to referee those sports during intramural games if needed.
- Demonstrating proper weight lifting techniques and being able to assist other students to do the same in the cardio/weight room of the Kruse Center.
