Student Worker - Academic Affairs
The Blinn College District is searching for a Student Worker - Academic Affairs at our Bryan Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
This is a student position within the Department of Academic Affairs. The position is responsible for effective administration of the front office, while performing a variety of front desk and clerical functions and providing quality customer service during during the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Principal Accountabilities
- Greet and assist all visitors, students, potential students and parents that check in with the office.
- Answer and appropriately handle incoming phone calls. Transfer or refer caller to correct departments as needed.
- Use a computer and a variety of office software applications, including word processing,
spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and file management. - Organize and scan files, both hard copy and electronic, while assuring confidentiality of
records. - Assist with filing, copying, faxing, and processing of departmental paperwork.
- Assist with data collection, entry, processing, verification, and analysis.
- Assist with distribution incoming mail and packages.
- Operate standard office equipment (e.g., copier, fax, scanner, telephone, etc.). Assist with
keeping track of office supplies. - May be asked to assist staff with daily responsibilities.
- Assist with administrative projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
- Must be federal work study eligible
- Must be a full time student at Blinn (this includes all campuses and internet courses)
- Must be able to work 10 - 19 hours per week
Minimum Competencies
- Must behave in a mature and responsible manner, using good judgment, and abiding and enforcing institutional policies.
- Basic computer skills on Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
- Basic knowledge of copier/scanner use and operation
- You must be a student in good standing; this means you need to maintain a 2.00 GPA throughout your
term of employment. - Have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to relate to people.
- You must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Demonstrate good
clerical and communication skills. - Answer the phone and record accurate messages.
- Customer service experience
- Ability to keep information confidential
- Knowledgeable and able to articulate college policies, rules, and regulations.

- Experience as a student worker or office aide
- Advance computer skills on Microsoft Office programs
