Job Description

We are seeking engaged and collaborative individuals to join our team as Unity Center Peer Educators (UCPE). Unity Center Peer Educators (BUCPE) work alongside the professional staff of the Center to provide guidance in the development, design, and practical application of resources and services provided throughout the Campus, within the framework of these goals and mission of the Office. UCPE advances their skills in program coordination, marketing, and public speaking as well as workshop presenting (Conferences/SLI) and facilitating conversations around identity, diversity, equity, justice, and social change.

  • Facilitate independently, or co-facilitate with other peer educators, original workshops for students that introduce, frame, and advance aspects of identity, social change, and equity.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials, coordinating annual and events, and introducing new creative ways to engage the campus by helping to develop new initiatives through the Center or other potential campus partners
  • Assist with office coverage for the Unity Center office suite during business hours, including but not limited to: answering phones, taking messages, opening and closing the office, copying, data entry, making deliveries to and from various campus offices, and greeting visitors
  • Assist professional staff members in the Center with existing projects and initiatives assigned to each BUCPE.
  • Support the planning and execution of large-scale events, examples include: First/Unity Friday, Unity Center Hour podcast, Café, Heritage/History Month
  • Support the execution of office scholarship programs (MLK and IAP)
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled student staff meetings, trainings, and development opportunities.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Have and maintain a 2.75 GPA and a minimum of 12 credits.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the college's campus resources and services.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop in the role.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of identity and an investment in social change.
  • Be reliable, dependable, and flexible.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Be a team player and contribute to a work environment that supports teamwork.
  • Have the ability to work independently and utilize problem-solving skills.
  • Have an understanding of professional social media etiquette (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Maintain a good academic and judicial standing.

Pay Rate:

Pay rate currently is $16.00 an hour, and students can expect to work 6-10 hours a week during the academic year. Summer and Winter opportunities may be available.

Working Hours:

  • Semester: offering 6-10 hours
  • Program and Event support may include evenings and weekends, based on the operational needs of the Unity Center.
