EVSC Student Teacher/Clinical Intern Inventory

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Student Teacher is a pre-service educator completing clinical field experience under the supervision of a cooperating teacher and building administrator. The Student Teacher gradually assumes instructional responsibilities in order to demonstrate proficiency in planning, instruction, assessment, and professional practice.

This position may also provide opportunities to serve as a substitute teacher within district buildings when eligible and approved.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruction & Planning
  • Observe and assist the cooperating teacher with daily classroom instruction.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to district curriculum and state standards.
  • Gradually assume responsibility for full-day instruction as determined by the supervising teacher.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Utilize instructional technology to support student learning.
  • Assessment
  • Assist in designing and administering formative and summative assessments.
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Classroom Environment
  • Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support classroom management procedures and school expectations.
  • Supervise students during instructional time and assigned duties.
  • Collaboration & Professionalism
  • Participate in faculty meetings, PLCs, professional development, and school events as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with cooperating teachers, administrators, students, and families.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in dress, conduct, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
  • Meet all university program requirements and district expectations.
  • Substitute Teaching Opportunities
  • When eligible (per district policy and state requirements), may serve as a substitute teacher within district buildings.
  • Maintain lesson continuity and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Follow all district substitute procedures and reporting guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Enrollment in an accredited teacher preparation program.

  • Placement agreement with partnering college/university.
  • Successful completion of required background checks.
  • Substitute teaching permit/license (if applicable for substitute opportunities).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
