  • Student workers must reside within the State of Washington. Remote work outside of Washington will not be permitted.

Job Title: Student TA – CG-2001-D (Lu), F26

Reports to Michelle Lu

Class Times:

Monday – 2:00 - 4:50 p.m.

+ one to two additional 3-hour TA sessions per week, outside of class hours

Essential Functions

The CG2001 Teaching Assistant (TA) supports the instructor and students enrolled in this section of CG-2001 – 3D Digital Art. The TA should have a strong understanding of the course material and be comfortable helping students with the 3D art workflows and software used in the course.

The TA is expected to attend the scheduled class and provide additional support to students in this section during designated TA hours outside of class.

Essential Functions

  • Attend the scheduled CG-2001 class and assist the instructor during lectures, demonstrations, and lab activities.
  • Assist with classroom setup as needed, including preparing equipment, course materials, and presentation slides.
  • Provide individual assistance to students during lab/work time and help answer questions related to course assignments, techniques, and software.
  • Help students troubleshoot common technical and workflow issues related to the course.
  • Assist the instructor with attendance and other classroom activities as needed.
  • Meet regularly with the instructor to discuss course progress, student needs, and areas where additional support may be helpful.
  • Hold two scheduled TA sessions per week outside regular class time to provide additional support to students enrolled in this section. Sessions may be scheduled on weekdays and/or weekends.
  • Provide appropriate guidance during TA sessions while encouraging students to develop their own problem-solving skills and complete their own work.
  • Provide the instructor with weekly feedback regarding common student questions, difficulties, and areas where students may need additional instruction or clarification.
  • Participate in a semester evaluation and provide feedback on the TA experience and course support.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of CG-2001 or equivalent coursework with a strong understanding of the course material.
  • Working knowledge of the 3D modeling and digital art tools (Maya and Substance 3D Painter) and workflows used in CG-2001.
  • Ability to clearly explain technical and artistic concepts to other students.
    • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and able to attend the scheduled class and TA sessions consistently.
  • Patient and comfortable working with students with different levels of experience and technical ability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the instructor regarding student progress, recurring issues, and course needs.

Expected dates of employment: August 31 – December 13, 2026

Expected number of hours per week: 3 – 9

Wage Range:

$17.13 - 18.25 per hour, depending on number of terms worked at DigiPen

Working Conditions:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and fine finger dexterity. May need to lift up to 25 lbs. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.

DigiPen Student Employee Academic Requirements:

  • Are currently a Matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology
  • Good Academic Standing – not on Academic Warning as defined in DigiPen Course Catalog
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Have taken and passed CG-2001 with a B or better

Requirement Exceptions:

It is possible to still be selected for a position with DigiPen if you do not meet the requirements above, so don't let that dissuade you from applying!

Once you have applied for – and the supervisor decides to offer you – a position, we will contact the necessary managers (Supervisor, Department Chair, and/or the Dean of Faculty) to complete and sign off on an Academic Waiver form, depending on which requirements need to be waived.
