THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Student Support Counseling Team
  • Practicing active engagement of all students and build positive relationships with appropriate boundaries
  • Practicing identifying, reporting, and developing evidence-based interventions for targeted students
  • Practicing consulting and collaborating with campus and system staff, parents/guardians, and community partners in a multi-disciplinary approach to identify and reduce barriers to student achievement and persistence
  • Seeking out community resources to establish partnerships that can provide access and services to students, parents, and staff
  • Using knowledge of community resources and partnerships to make appropriate referrals for students and families
  • Maintaining accurate records while ensuring adequate safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of information and records
  • Additional duties as assigned

MUST HAVES

  • Currently enrolled in accredited undergraduate program pursing bachelor’s degree in social work or counseling
  • Currently enrolled in field placement course within graduate program
  • Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team
  • A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional

THE BENEFITS

This is an unpaid internship and requires receipt of college credit for participation. This position is not eligible for benefits with YES Prep Public Schools. In order to be eligible for this position, you will have to get fingerprinted to meet Texas State Educator requirements.
