Job Description
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Student Success Librarian provides in-person, virtual, and email research assistance to students, faculty, staff, and community members using library databases, online resources, citation tools, and other technologies. The position develops and delivers information literacy instruction through workshops, classroom sessions, and virtual presentations, and serves as an embedded librarian in Canvas.

This position creates and maintains research guides, instructional materials, and library marketing resources, while developing and managing library collections by recommending purchases and removing outdated materials. The Student Success Librarian also provides technical support for Microsoft Office, Canvas, PaperCut, and other library technologies, and completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in information and library science from an American Library Association accredited school.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide in person, email, and virtual research assistance to library patrons.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and teach information literacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to create materials for library patrons.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain library collections.
  • Experience providing technical support to library patrons.
  • Experience communicating effectively; and working as a team member.
  • At least one-year experience working in a library.

Additional Considerations
  • At least one-year experience working as an academic librarian.
  • Experience using Canvas, Zoom, LibGuides and LibAnswers.
