Ithaca College Dining Services serves the campus community through dining halls, retail cafés, catering, and campus events. We take pride in providing great food, friendly service, and a welcoming environment while creating a fun and supportive workplace for our student employees.
The Retail Dining Student Marketing Lead supports the continued growth and visibility of Retail Dining Services through creative marketing, branding, and content creation. Working closely with the Retail Dining Assistant Manager, this position follows a structured marketing calendar to promote special events, limited-time menu offerings, seasonal campaigns, catering services, and other Retail Dining initiatives.
This role collaborates with Student Managers and Student Employees to plan and create engaging content that showcases Retail Dining locations, menu items, and campus events. The Student Marketing Lead helps ensure marketing materials are consistent with Dining Services branding standards while increasing awareness of Retail Dining locations, strengthening each café's identity on campus, and promoting Retail Dining as a destination for both students and faculty.
Essential Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and maintain a schedule fulfilling a minimum of 6 scheduled hours per week (20 hours maximum).
- Follow all Dining Services policies, branding standards, and marketing guidelines.
- Work alongside the Retail Dining Assistant Manager to complete assigned marketing projects and campaigns.
- Follow a structured marketing calendar to promote special events, limited-time offers, seasonal promotions, catering services, and Retail Dining initiatives.
- Coordinate and create photos, videos, graphics, written content, and other promotional materials for Retail Dining.
- Collaborate with Student Managers and Student Employees to organize and produce assigned content projects.
- Help promote Retail Dining catering services, campus events, and new menu offerings.
- Create content that highlights each café, its location on campus, and its unique menu offerings to increase campus awareness.
- Assist with flyers, digital signage, promotional displays, and other printed or digital marketing materials.
- Ensure all content meets Dining Services branding, quality, and posting standards.
- Stay organized by tracking assigned projects, meeting deadlines, and communicating progress with management.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and marketing planning sessions.
- Stay informed on menu updates, upcoming events, and Retail Dining initiatives to ensure accurate and timely marketing.
- Perform other marketing and promotional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications & Requirements
- Interest or experience in marketing, communications, social media, photography, graphic design, journalism, or related fields.
- Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar creative software is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Creative, dependable, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Comfortable collaborating with other student employees while taking direction from management.
- Able to work independently, accept feedback, and meet deadlines.
- Flexible and dependable with scheduling.
- Willing to occasionally assist with special events or promotional activities outside of regular operating hours when needed.
Work Environment
The Student Marketing Lead works throughout Retail Dining locations across campus creating marketing content and supporting promotional events. Responsibilities include walking between campus locations, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 pounds of equipment or marketing materials, and using computers, cameras, and mobile devices to produce content. A Dining Services uniform shirt and IC hat are provided and must be worn while representing Dining Services.

Hiring Rate: $16/hr
