Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a network of charter schools serving students across the TK-Post Secondary continuum in the Greater MacArthur Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.  Pueblo Nuevo Education Development Group (PNEDG) is CNCA’s resource development and capacity building arm. PNEDG invests in young people to foster personal transformation and generational social change.  PNEDG staff support and build capacity for CNCA schools in achieving their vision.  The organizations are grounded in the beliefs that public education is a civil right and all students deserve an excellent education that will prepare them for success in life. At CNCA/PNEDG, we recognize that lower income and immigrant communities often face institutional and cultural barriers that create impediments to students’ success, and that an excellent education must eliminate these barriers. We integrate a strong focus on progressive, research-based academics with a holistic, place-based approach to serving our students. Currently, CNCA has six campuses that serve approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12th grade. Our goal is for CNCA graduates to be equipped with the skills, knowledge, and worldview necessary to be literate, critical thinkers and independent problem solvers.

The Opportunity
Under the supervision of the Director of Strategic Enrollment, the Student Recruitment & Enrollment Assistant at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy plays a vital role in strengthening community partnerships and supporting strong enrollment outcomes across all schools. This role focuses on student recruitment, outreach, engagement, and coordination of enrollment efforts to build a strong pipeline of prospective students and ensure families have access to clear, timely, and welcoming enrollment experiences.
Strategy and Vision Setting Responsibilities
- Lead high-impact, community-based recruitment strategies to drive student enrollment across CNCA campuses
- Execute targeted, door-to-door canvassing and street-level outreach to directly engage prospective families and provide real-time enrollment support
- Identify and activate high-leverage community spaces (festivals, parks, local events) to expand visibility and generate new applications
- Serve as a visible ambassador of Camino Nuevo in priority neighborhoods, strengthening trust and community presence
- Align weekly outreach efforts to enrollment goals, seasonal priorities, and campus-specific needs
Marketing & Outreach Responsibilities
- Conduct weekly grassroots canvassing in targeted neighborhoods
- Represent Camino Nuevo at community events, school fairs, and local partnerships
- Distribute marketing materials and clearly communicate CNCA’s academic programs and value proposition
- Build and sustain relationships with preschools, community-based organizations, faith-based groups, and local businesses
- Support localized marketing campaigns in high-priority recruitment areas
- Maintain a consistent and visible presence in the community to drive awareness and applications
Event & Seasonal Outreach Support
- Support and execute Open Houses, campus tours, enrollment events, and information sessions
- Increase outreach efforts during key enrollment cycles, including:
- - Spring recruitment season
- - Summer enrollment push
- - Back-to-school enrollment stabilization
- - Winter and holiday outreach opportunities
- Collaborate with school sites to ensure strong event turnout and family engagement
Family Outreach & Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective families, responding via phone, text, email, and in-person interactions
- Conduct outbound phone banking and follow-up to move families through the enrollment pipeline
- Guide families through the application, lottery, and registration process with clarity and urgency
- Provide high-touch, relationship-centered support to ensure a positive family experience
Enrollment Operations & Data Tracking
- Accurately enter and manage family data in SchoolMint or other enrollment systems
- Track outreach efforts, contact attempts, and conversion rates from interest to enrollment
- Maintain detailed records of leads, events, and recruitment outcomes
- Support document collection and ensure timely completion of enrollment requirements
- Generate weekly outreach and enrollment progress reports
Administrative Responsibilities for Development
- Represent Camino Nuevo’s mission and values with warmth and professionalism
- Participate in team meetings and professional development
- Other recruitment, enrollment, and development-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and data-tracking skills
- Comfort with phone outreach and in-person canvassing
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods during community outreach

The schedule:
- This is a 20-hour per week position, with hours distributed throughout the week based on recruitment priorities.
- Will include weekends (Saturdays and Sundays, depending on scheduled events)
- May increase activity during peak recruitment seasons
- Will require availability during spring break, summer, holidays, and other off-season weeks
- May adjust weekly schedule based on events, canvassing opportunities, and enrollment needs

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required
- Associate’s Degree/two years of college Preferred + one (1) years of related work experience i.e community outreach
- Possession of a valid and appropriate California driver's license
- Possession of the minimum required insurance coverage as mandated by the state of California for operation of a vehicle
- Fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) required
- Experience or commitment to working on a team as well as across teams
- Experience with SchoolMint, PowerSchool, and Canva, preferred
