This is a full-time, 12-month fixed term position on Crick terms and conditions of employment.
The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions.
The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy.
The Francis Crick Institute’s Academic Training Team (ATT) forms part of the Crick’s People (Human Resource, HR) Directorate. The team is responsible for the management, development and operation of the Crick’s early career researcher training programmes, including the PhD, undergraduate student, and clinical fellow training programmes. It also oversees the appointment of visiting undergraduate, Master’s and PhD students and clinical fellows who are hosted in Crick laboratories for limited periods of time. The Institute has approximately 200 PhD students across 4 years of study, up to 40 doctoral and postdoctoral clinical fellows, up to 10 sandwich students spending 1 year at the Crick and up to 30 summer students during July and August each year.
As a Student Recruitment Coordinator, you will report to the Student Operations Lead and work as part of a collaborative team of seven colleagues across the student and clinical teams. Acting as a key point of contact for candidates, supervisors and colleagues across the Crick, you will provide a proactive, efficient and responsive administrative service, supporting the day-to-day delivery of the student recruitment programmes and working closely with the wider Academic Training Team (ATT), People Hub Team and Service Delivery Team.
The role will involve providing student administration support through Workday (our online employee resource platform), supporting recruitment activity across the summer, sandwich, PhD and clinical fellow programmes, coordinating the onboarding and induction of visiting students, and supporting the onboarding of Crick programme students and clinical fellows. This will include helping to prepare recruitment websites, systems and advertising materials, as well as coordinating interview logistics such as scheduling, travel and hotel arrangements, expense claims and offers.
You will also act as a first point of contact, responding to queries and escalating issues to other members of the ATT where appropriate. This role would suit someone looking for a development opportunity to build their experience and knowledge of HR recruitment processes, alongside postgraduate training and career development programmes.
Some of your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
