Job Description

Position Department: Campus Recreation Position Type: Staff Part-Time
This position will involve assisting in the daily operations of the Student Recreation and Fitness Center. There will be a wide array of duties ranging from customer service to fitness center maintenance and operations. This is a part-time role, not benefit eligible and limited to 950 hours per calendar year and no more than 29 hours per week on a regular basis. Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the daily operations of the Recreation Center.
  • Daily inspection and cleaning of all equipment.
  • Re-racking of free weights.
  • Conduct the 'check-in' process of individuals using the facility.
  • Give instructions on the proper use of equipment. Serve as spotters for weight lifters.
  • May be required to open or close the facility when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Professional Recreation Staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in customer service is required and previous experience working in a fitness or recreation center is preferred.
  • Must be reliable, have good communication skills, and be easily adaptable. Working knowledge of a wide array of strength and cardio equipment would be helpful but not required. Need to be able to lift weights up to 45 pounds.
