GMG Fish Services Ltd., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company with Platinum Member status in the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program, has an opening for a Student Net Loft Worker in our Netting department based out of St. George, New Brunswick.

The Role

The Student Net Loft Worker supports the daily operations of the Net Shop by performing stringing duties and maintaining cleanliness throughout the shop. This position is designed for students working inside the shop throughout the year. During the summer months, students may also work outside in the yard in support of shipper/receivers. The role follows a continental shift schedule that accommodates school and weekend availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform stringing of nets as required to support production operations
  • Carry out general cleaning of the Net Shop to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
  • Assist with maintaining shop cleanliness, tools, and equipment.
  • During the summer months, assist shipper/receivers by maintaining cleanliness of the yard and helping with organization of the yard and storage building.
  • Support organizing and general upkeep of outdoor and storage areas as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies and standard operating procedures
  • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or damaged equipment to the supervisor immediately
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Net Shop operations

Qualifications:

  • Must be a student
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a production environment
  • Physically capable of performing light to moderate manual tasks
  • Strong attention to cleanliness and safety

Working Conditions:

  • Shift Type: Continental day shift - 2 shifts on/ 2 shifts off/ 3 shifts on/ 2 shifts off/ 2 shift on/ 3 shift off.
  • After School: Up to 7:00 PM
  • Weekends: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM every other weekend
  • Weekend shifts follow the established continental shift rotation
  • Work environment may vary and can include cold, wet, warm, dry, and production floor conditions.
