Job Description

Job Duties:

Tutoring a wide range of students in music theory, an average of 4-5 hours per week during the 2025-26 academic year. Also be able to tutor aural skills occasionally as needed.

Hours Per Week:

4-5

Anticipated Work Schedule:

Other - Set hours in a static schedule; typically scheduled between 3-8pm, plus additional tutoring appointments by arrangement. During fall and spring semesters, including final exam periods.

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding academic achievement as evidenced by GPA
  • Outstanding achievement in aural skills and music theory courses, with grades of A or A- in each course taken
  • Current enrollment in or past completion of Music Theory III and Aural Skills IV
  • Formal or informal experience teaching/tutoring aural skills and music theory required
  • Rising Junior preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Personal qualities conducive to one-on-one conferences, such as a friendly, approachable manner; patience; good listening abilities; and a sense of maturity and responsibility
