Student Coordinator for Community, Engagement, & Programs

Hiring for Fall 2026

The ORSL Student Coordinator for Community, Engagement, & Programs serves as the primary support for Muller Chapel and ORSL events, services, and offerings, with a focus on event setup and breakdown, ORSL pro staff, Religious Affiliate and Student group support, and event documentation. This role will also provide administrative assistance, engage with chapel visitors, and connect students with resources both within Muller Chapel and across campus.

Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the ORSL Director, plan and implement initiatives and events of public interest at Muller Chapel such as the interfaith dinner series;
  • Communicate regularly with staff and student leaders associated with affiliated communities and partner groups (introductions will be made by the ORSL Director) to help determine the needs of different communities and support sharing of ORSL’s resources;
  • Promote any programming happening in Muller Chapel provided it is sponsored by a registered organization at Ithaca College;
  • In partnership with the ORSL Director, develop strategies to increase awareness of Muller Chapel and its resources (including weekly wellness programs and meditation room);
  • Provide general office support and maintenance of Muller Chapel (including alerting the Director of low supplies in the chapel kitchen and office);
  • Greet visitors to Muller Chapel and actively foster a welcoming, inclusive environment;
  • Provide peer-to-peer support and referrals for students who need resources;
  • Work up to 20 hours a week at Muller Chapel;

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with event planning, group discussion facilitation and/or community engagement preferred;
  • Previous administrative and office experience preferred;
  • Must have weekly availability including evenings and weekends, as needed;
  • Must be available for (1) staff training at the beginning of the Fall/Spring semesters, (2) weekly hour-long staff meetings and (3) biweekly half-hour one-on-one meetings with the ORSL Director, (4) regular Muller Chapel office shifts, and (5) supporting and attending Muller Chapel and ORSL Events, as needed. These meetings and hours are arranged in conjunction with student staff schedules;
  • Must have a passion for and understanding of the mission, vision, and values of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and Muller Chapel. Employment decisions are made without regard to a student’s personal, religious, or spiritual beliefs or values;
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with Muller Chapel documents, meetings, conversations, and visitors;
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5;
  • Must be enrolled as a student at Ithaca College and in good academic standing for the term prior to starting and during the entire period of employment.

Compensation

Starting pay for this position in $16.15 an hour.
