Join the Aviation Think Tank!
Have you ever wondered what tomorrow’s air transport might look like? As the aviation think tank in Germany – consisting of young and ambitious experts from various disciplines – our goal is to provide science-based answers. Located in Taufkirchen near Munich, we offer a modern working environment with open ears and doors. We are always looking for passionate and creative minds to help us push today’s boundaries to new heights.
Shape the future of aviation with us today and join us as:
Your Tasks
- Your task involves researching exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) implementation strategies for novel propulsion systems, including different configurations and integration concepts
- Based on the findings, the EGR system architecture and relevant components will be defined and modelled within the new thermodynamic cycle. The developed EGR models will then be implemented into the existing gas turbine cycle simulation tool, including mass and energy balances to account for recirculated exhaust gas and its effects on engine operating conditions
- Finally, parametric studies will be conducted to investigate the influence of the EGR rate and system operating parameters on engine performance, and the impact of EGR integration will be evaluated in terms of key performance indicators, including TSFC and emissions
Your Profile
- You are a master's student (m/f/d) in aerospace, mechanical, or energy engineering
- A good understanding of gas turbine thermodynamics and propulsion systems is part of your expertise
- You already have some experience with thermodynamic cycle analysis and engine performance modelling
- Through your experience in thermodynamic cycle analysis and engine performance modelling, you bring valuable technical knowledge
- Your knowledge of combustion processes and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) concepts is an advantage
- Good programming skills in MATLAB, ideally combined with experience in developing and modelling propulsion systems, are part of your skill set
- Working independently comes naturally to you, and you approach tasks in a structured and analytical manner
- Your English is of high level both spoken and written
What to expect:
- An international team with a high qualification level
- Acknowledged research institution – with our feet on the ground and our thoughts in the air
- Interdisciplinary cooperation of engineers, natural and social scientists
- Modern working environment on the Ludwig Bölkow Campus in Taufkirchen near Munich
- A team-oriented working culture
- Flat hierarchies and short communication paths
- Challenging tasks
- Versatile, creative activities
- Numerous opportunities to enhance and broaden your competencies
What we offer:
- Flexible working hours
