Provide peer mentoring to TAMIU CAMP students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform peer mentoring to freshmen (or transfer) students.
Meet individually with students weekly.
Maintain current and confidential records and information.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with UNIV instructors and University College staff.
Prepare written reports related to student mentoring and other related assignments.
Meet regularly with TAMIU CAMP for staff meetings, training, and/or workshops.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Current TAMIU student with 60 SCH or more at the time of appointment.
Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
Preferred Experience
Migrant or seasonal farm worker background.
Experience with student engagement activities
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Interact effectively and professionally with students and staff.
Motivate students.
Work effectively in teams.
Speak in front of large groups.

Other Requirements
Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.
Promptly complete all required trainings.
Submit time sheet biweekly.
Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Subject to funding and/or need.
Pay of Rate $9.00/hour for up to 19 hours weekly
