
The Content Creation Assistant supports Butler University Recreation & Wellness by developing engaging, authentic content that showcases programs, events, facilities, and campus life. This role focuses on capturing, producing, and publishing photo, video, and written content for social and digital platforms to drive student engagement, brand awareness, and participation.
Job Responsibilities:
Capture photo and video content of Recreation & Wellness programs, events, facilities, and participants.
Assist with creating short-form video content (Reels, Stories, TikToks) and other social-first media.
Write captions, headlines, and short-form copy aligned with the RecWell brand voice.
Assist with planning, creating, and scheduling content for @burecwell’s Instagram and other digital platforms.
Edit photos and videos for social media and digital marketing use.
Monitor social media engagement, respond to comments/messages when appropriate, and track basic performance metrics.
Collaborate with Recreation & Wellness staff to identify content opportunities and tell compelling stories.
Support on-campus marketing efforts such as event coverage, tabling, and outreach initiatives as needed.
Learning Outcomes:
Gain hands-on experience creating digital and social media content for a university department.
Build a content portfolio including photo, video, and written work.
Develop skills in storytelling, audience engagement, and social media strategy.
Learn how content creation supports brand identity, participation, and community building on campus.
Requirements:
Current Butler University student (preferrably 1st - 3rd year)
Majoring or minoring in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, or related field
Familiarity with social media platforms, especially Instagram
Basic photo/video editing skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Creative, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to manage deadlines and adapt to fast-moving content needs.
