The award-winning San José Public Library (SJPL) consists of more than 600 employees, a 23% bilingual workforce, and has 24 branch libraries across San José, in addition to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, which is the city’s main library jointly operated through a unique partnership with San José State University. The San Jose Public Library’s Staff Learning and Development team is recruiting for a dedicated and passionate part-time Student Intern. If you enjoy helping people grow and are looking for a hands-on project-based experience in staff development and Human Resources, this internship isa great opportunity to make a difference and grow your skills.

This internship is part-time, project-focused, and designed for students building early career experience. Interns are appointed “at-will” and assignments may vary depending on team needs.
Pay: Student Intern: $16.33- $23.33 per hour (unclassified, unbenefited)
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The actual salary will be determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Work Schedule: This intern will work16hours per week, with the schedule determined collaboratively between the hiring manager and the intern based on student availability and project needs Work will be in person at the MLK Library located in downtown San Jose on the SJSU campus.
Any combination equivalent to completion of high school and current enrollment in an accredited college or university in undergraduate or graduate program.
Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in the state of California may be-requiredin performing job duties.

The selection process will consist of an evaluation of the applicant's training and experience based on the application and responses to all the job specific questions. Only those candidates whose backgrounds best match the position will be invited to proceed in the selection process. Additional phases of the selection process will consist of one or more interviews.
