Job Description

PS Job Title: Student, Intern

Work Place Flexibility: Onsite

Legal Entity: Entergy Texas, Inc.-GTX

About This Role

The Premier Performance and Transformation Office (PPTO) manages Entergy's strategic transformation initiatives. Grid modernization, clean energy, resilience investments. We validate strategic initiatives at approval gates and track whether they deliver on their promises. If they fall short, we surface that to leadership.

You'll support financial analysis and value realization at the portfolio level. That means looking across all our active initiatives and asking whether we're hitting our targets collectively, where we're falling short, and where leadership should focus. You'll work directly with our Sr. Manager and two Sr. Staff members. Daily check-ins. Real guidance.

Your Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Benefit Tracking — Build the analytics that show if our initiatives are delivering promised benefits
  • Stage-Gate Financial Governance — Help create the standards all initiatives must meet before approval
  • Portfolio Value Gap Analysis — Compare what we promised against what we're actually delivering across the portfolio
  • Financial Data — Keep the numbers organized so analysis is possible

What You'll Learn

You'll gain insight into how utilities execute large-scale infrastructure modernization programs and the financial governance frameworks required to manage transformation at scale.

Your Team

You'll be assigned to a focused team consisting of one Sr. Manager and two Sr. Staff members in PPTO Finance. You'll receive regular feedback and mentorship from senior financial analysts with direct experience in value realization and portfolio governance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree as Junior or Senior standing in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
  • Intermediate Excel proficiency
  • Ability to build simple financial models or dashboards
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on structured analytical tasks with guidance
  • Ability to interpret and explain financial data and variance to non-finance audiences in writing
  • Detail-oriented with ability to identify and flag data inconsistencies

Nice to Have

  • Prior internship in Finance, Accounting, or Business Analysis where you built financial models or tracked actual vs. forecast performance
  • Experience with variance analysis or budget vs. actual reporting
  • Familiarity with financial systems or databases beyond Excel
  • Exposure to utility, energy, or regulated industry through coursework, internship, or research

Why PPTO

Most companies treat transformation as isolated projects. We treat it as a portfolio. The question isn't "Is this one initiative worth funding?" It's "Are we making the right bets collectively? Are we delivering what we promised?" That lens exists nowhere else in the company.

What You'll Have

By end of summer, you'll own a real project. You'll understand how utilities modernize, why financial rigor matters, and how decisions actually get made. That's worth putting on your resume.

About Entergy

At Entergy (NYSE: ETR), we power life. More than 100 years ago, our founder Harvey Couch started this company with a handshake, some sawdust and a vision. Couch wanted to bring safe, affordable, reliable energy to the Middle South – energy that would power the lives of people and communities.

Today, we own and operate one of the cleanest large-scale U.S. power generating fleets including more than five gigawatts of carbon-free nuclear capacity, a fleet of highly efficient gas resources, and a fast-growing portfolio of renewable resources.

The nearly 12,000 men and women of Entergy deliver electricity and gas services to 3 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, generating annual GAAP revenues of $13.8 billion. Headquartered in New Orleans, we continue to play a driving role in the economic growth of the Gulf South.

Our work matters. That’s been true for more than 100 years. And as we look to the next century, we remember the constant that bridges our past and future: We Power Life.

Fast Facts:

Entergy currently has a 90% rating on the 2022 Corporate Equality Index released by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This score places Entergy among the top energy and utility companies in the survey.

With roots in the Gulf South region for more than a century, Entergy is a recognized leader in corporate citizenship, delivering more than $100 million in economic benefits to local communities through philanthropy and advocacy efforts annually over the last several years.

With a total of 44 awards from EEI for its restoration and mutual-assistance work, Entergy remains the only utility company to have won either EEI's Recovery or Assistance Award, or both, every year since the awards began in 1998.
