Salary Range: $84,175 to $106,925 (dependent upon education & experience)

The SIS and Reporting Manager leads the administration, management and strategic optimization of DCSD's student information system (Infinite Campus) and student data reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

System Management & Administration

  • Serve as the primary system administrator for the District's SIS and integrated instructional software applications.
  • Oversee system configuration, security role-based access, workflows, user accounts, and data security standards in compliance with FERPA and district policy.
  • Manage annual lifecycle tasks, including academic calendar setups, course catalog configuration, scheduling setups, end-of-year rollovers, and term rollovers.
  • Partner with software vendors to evaluate updates, test new features, manage system patches, and resolve technical bugs.

State & Federal Reporting

  • Manage, prepare, and submit all required federal and state reporting cycles to the Iowa Department of Education (e.g., SRI/Student Reporting, Certified Enrollment).
  • Develop and maintain an annual compliance calendar to ensure all state data submissions meet strict federal and state-mandated deadlines.
  • Run systematic audit scripts and data quality checks to identify, troubleshoot, and correct errors prior to official state certification.
  • Monitor changing legislation and Iowa Department of Education administrative rule updates, adjusting local data collection practices and system logic accordingly.
  • Conduct periodic district-wide data audits on student records (enrollment, attendance, discipline, transcripts, special education, and English learner status) to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Training & Support

  • Provide technical leadership, user support, and end-user documentation for school secretaries, registrars, administrators, and staff.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions (including a "train-the-trainer" model) on SIS workflows, gradebooks, attendance tracking, and parent/student portals.
  • Maintain clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation for all SIS tasks and data reporting processes.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, supervise, evaluate and mentor the district's SIS, Reporting and Data support team.
  • Establish workload priorities, assign support tickets, and manage operational workflows to ensure timely resolution of user requests and technical issues.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set measurable team goals, and promote continuous professional growth in data standards and system administration.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing a database environment or Student Information System, preferably within a K-12 public school district.
  • Demonstrated experience in state or federal reporting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of PK-12 operational workflows (i.e. grading, attendance, enrollment).
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, resolve conflicts constructively, share information transparently, and take personal accountability for achieving collective goals.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and maintain collaborative relationships.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods; light lifting (up to 25-30 lbs); typing and computer monitor use for prolonged periods.
  • Office environment with moderate noise level; occasional fast-paced deadlines around reporting windows.
  • Travel local between district buildings as needed.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are required.
