Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Provide academic support for Physics 430 by assisting Professor Andrew Jordan with the grading of homework assignments and course projects. Review and evaluate student work according to established grading criteria, maintain accuracy and confidentiality, and support the efficient administration of the course. This position requires up to four hours of work per week.

Responsibilities

• Grade homework assignments and/or course projects for Physics 430
• Review and evaluate student work in accordance with grading guidelines provided by the instructor.
• Assist the professor with grading-related tasks as needed.
• Maintain accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality when handling student coursework.
• Work up to four hours per week in support of the course.
• Perform other grading-related duties as assigned by Professor Andrew Jordan.

Required Qualifications

• Little to no prior experience required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Physics 430 coursework and concepts.
• Proficiency in Canvas or the ability to effectively navigate and utilize the learning management system.
• Completion of FERPA training or the ability to complete FERPA training prior to employment.
• Ability to learn and follow departmental processes and procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to evaluate student work accurately and consistently.

Desired Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in Physics 430 or a comparable upper-division physics course.
• Advanced understanding of physics concepts and problem-solving methodologies.
• Ability to apply subject matter knowledge to support accurate and consistent grading.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
