THE OPPORTUNITY
The Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board member serves as a key student leader responsible for representing the interests, needs, and perspectives of the undergraduate student body. Executive Board members collaborate with fellow student leaders, campus administrators, faculty, and student organizations to advocate for students, develop initiatives, support campus engagement, and enhance the overall student experience.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Serve as an advocate for the undergraduate student body by identifying student needs, gathering feedback, and representing student perspectives in discussions with faculty, staff, administrators, and other campus stakeholders.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Student Government Association by collaborating with fellow Executive Board members to establish priorities, guide organizational initiatives, oversee Senate operations, and uphold the mission and goals of SGA.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings (including but not limited to executive board, Senate, committee, advisor(s), and administrative), mandatory trainings, SGA events (including but not limited to SGA Retreat(s), Club/Org Fairs, State(s) of the College, fireside chat(s), SGA bonding(s), and Best of Babson), and committee work while maintaining professionalism, accountability, and adherence to SGA policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and assess projects, programs, and initiatives that enhance the student experience, strengthen campus engagement, address student concerns, and promote the overall welfare of the Babson community.
- Maintain regular availability and communication with students through office hours, outreach efforts, campus events, and collaborative partnerships with student organizations, ensuring transparency and accessibility in student government operations.
- Support the effective administration of SGA by maintaining institutional knowledge, documenting initiatives and decisions, contributing to long-term organizational sustainability, and ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities to future student leaders.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to supervise projects, coordinate team efforts, and serve as a positive representative of the Student Government Association and the student body.
- Ability to lead committees and working groups, facilitate productive discussions, delegate responsibilities, and ensure progress toward established goals and priorities.
- Experience with strategic planning, organizational leadership, or governance processes, including contributing to policy development, long-term planning, and institutional decision-making.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to develop and execute initiatives, meet deadlines, track outcomes, and successfully deliver programs, events, or other measurable results.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, make informed decisions, and maintain accountability for actions, commitments, and responsibilities while working collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills; experience in student leadership, event planning, advocacy, committee work, or campus involvement is preferred.
- Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.
- Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members.

- Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar).
HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
The Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board member role is a hybrid leadership position that requires both independent work and in-person engagement. Executive Board members are expected to attend regular meetings, SGA events, office hours, and leadership activities, with most responsibilities taking place on campus.
Executive Board Members will have access to the SGA Office located in the Reynolds Campus Center, which serves as a shared workspace for collaboration, student outreach, meetings, and project planning. Members are expected to maintain a visible and accessible presence within the campus community throughout their term.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Attendance and Eligibility for Payment
Any unexcused absence from an SGA meeting will result in the officer not being paid for that week.
E-board Attendance Specifics
E-board members who miss an SGA meeting, regardless of excuse status, will not be paid for the 1 hour associated with that meeting.
Mandatory Events Clause
For any mandatory event designated by the SGA, officers must attend both the event and that week’s Senate meeting to receive payment.
Oversight and Enforcement
The President, in collaboration with the SGA Advisor(s) and the Internal Affairs Board, shall be responsible for tracking compliance, verifying submissions, and determining excused vs. unexcused absences.
