SACC Counselor

Before & After School Child Care Program — Youth Development

Schedule: Part-Time
Pay Rate: $17.00/hour
Reports To: Senior Youth Development Director
Location: YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County

THE ROLE

Do you love making kids laugh, learn, and feel like they belong? As a SACC Counselor, you'll supervise and engage children in our before/after school programs, planning fun and creative activities while keeping every child safe, supported, and excited to be there.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Actively supervise and engage with children, responding to their needs with warmth and positivity
  • Plan and lead daily activities, lesson plans, and events that promote fun, skill-building, and belonging
  • Assist students with homework and prepare nutritional snacks
  • Build strong, positive relationships with families and your SACC team
  • Follow all safety, emergency, and Child Abuse Prevention protocols
  • Model the Y's core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Minimum age 18; high school diploma or GED
  • Red Cross CPR/AED, First Aid & Emergency Oxygen certification (Y provides training)
  • At least 1 year of experience in a youth program setting or related education
  • A team player with excellent people skills and a reliable, punctual work history

Adaptive Program Assistant

Adapted Aquatics, Sports & Wellness, and Social Programs

Schedule: 2–10 hours/week, including evenings & weekends
Pay Rate: $17.00/ hour
Reports To: Adaptive Program Director
Location: YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County

THE ROLE

Help youth with developmental disabilities build skills, confidence, and friendships. As an Adaptive Program Assistant, you'll co-lead adapted aquatics, sports, wellness, and social/play programs for participants ages 3–21, creating an inclusive space where every kid can thrive.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support the development and delivery of adapted programming for youth ages 3–21 with developmental disabilities
  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where every child feels encouraged to participate
  • Provide direct supervision and ensure safety during all program activities
  • Build trusting relationships with families through open, ongoing communication
  • Help evaluate program outcomes and suggest improvements to better serve participants

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Minimum age 18; high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in a recreational or aquatic setting
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children with developmental disabilities and/or providing behavioral interventions

Building Supervisor

Membership — Facility Safety & Security

Schedule: 10–20 hours/week, including weekends & evenings

Pay Rate: $17.00/hour

Reports To: Senior Director of Membership and Programs

Location: YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County

THE ROLE

Do you like keeping things running smoothly and stepping up when it counts? As a Building Supervisor, you'll be the go-to person for building safety, security, and supervision when leadership staff aren't on-site — making rounds, welcoming members, and handling anything from questions to emergencies with confidence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Welcome and connect with members and guests, providing excellent service in person and on the phone
  • Handle and resolve member/guest concerns, looping in leadership as needed
  • Respond to and manage all emergencies or member, guest, and employee injuries
  • Make regular rounds of the building, grounds, and exterior access points to catch and address safety concerns
  • Enforce closing procedures, ensuring all areas are cleared, closed, and secured
  • Complete daily reports on safety hazards, behavioral issues, and staffing
  • Support the Front Desk and other departments as needed

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Minimum age 18; high school diploma or GED
  • Previous building safety, security, management, and/or customer service experience
  • First Aid, CPR/AED & Emergency O2 Administration certifications (required within 30 days of hire; Y provides training)
  • Reliable, punctual work history and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and relate to diverse groups of people

Welcome Center Representative

Membership — Front Desk & Member Services

THE ROLE

Love being the friendly face that makes people feel welcome? As a Welcome Center Representative, you'll be the first hello for every member and guest — checking people in, selling memberships, and helping people connect with everything the Y has to offer.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Greet and respond to the needs of every member and guest
  • Check in, screen, and process members and guests at the Welcome Center
  • Sell memberships and highlight the benefits for individuals and families
  • Keep the Welcome Center clean, organized, and fully stocked
  • Handle frontline financial transactions and membership/donor transactions using Daxko Operations
  • Build positive relationships with members and volunteers, and help resolve membership concerns

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Minimum age 18; high school diploma or GED
  • Previous customer service, sales, or related experience
  • CPR/AED and Emergency O2 Administration certifications (required within 30 days of hire; Y covers cost)
  • Reliable, punctual work history with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with Daxko Operations/Engage or Google Workspace is a plus

Child Watch Teacher

Youth Development — Childcare

Schedule: Part-Time

Reports To: Senior Youth Development Director

Location: YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County

THE ROLE

Love spending your day with little ones? As a Child Watch Teacher, you'll supervise children in our childcare rooms, planning fun activities and creating a safe, nurturing space where every child feels cared for while their families are at the Y.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Actively supervise and engage with children, responding to their needs with warmth and positivity
  • Ensure children's safety through sign-in/out procedures, ID checks, and policy compliance
  • Develop and lead daily lesson plans and activities that build skills and create fun, quality experiences
  • Communicate regularly with families about behavior, progress, and upcoming activities
  • Maintain program records (incident reports, sign-in sheets, checklists, etc.)
  • Follow all safety, emergency, and Child Abuse Prevention protocols
  • Keep childcare spaces clean, safe, and well-stocked

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Minimum age 16
  • Red Cross CPR/AED, First Aid & Emergency Oxygen certification (Y provides training at low/no cost)
  • Previous experience in group child care and/or education in a related field
  • Reliable, punctual work/volunteer history and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience with diverse populations preferred
