Job Description

Foodnet Meals on Wheels is the only organization in Tompkins County that serves older adults age 60+

through home-delivered meals, nutrition services, and friendly safety checks every day! Do you enjoy

making fun videos for social media and care about the health of seniors? Join the team dedicated to the

food security and nutritional health of our most vulnerable population.

As the Social Media Coordinator, you will:

• Work with Foodnet’s Community Engagement & Philanthropy Manager to plan and implement the

organization’s social media communications plan on Facebook (@FoodnetMealsOnWheels),

Instagram (@foodnetmow), LinkedIn (@foodnet-meals-on-wheels), TikTok, YouTube, Nextdoor,

Reddit, and other platforms.

• Take photos and videos of Foodnet Meals on Wheels’ activities and edit them into engaging social

media content.

• Tailor social media messaging to different audiences to help increase the number of clients we

serve and increase our philanthropic efforts.

• Help target younger audiences on social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

• Collect, analyze, and report data from social media activity to inform organizational

communications strategy and planning.

• Manage and curate engagement activity on social media platforms using discretion and clarity for

monitoring public comments to social media posts.

• Work with a fun, energetic group of individuals who are committed to assisting our senior

neighbors live independently.

• Assist in Mac and Cheese Bowl planning and event promotion (May 2027).

As the Social Media Coordinator, you need:

• Belief that people deserve to age with dignity and food security.

• Interest in using your social media skills to benefit older adults, individuals with chronic illness, or

individuals living with development challenges.

• Ability to shoot and edit photos and videos with your own smartphone and computer.

• Experience in social media platforms (posting, scheduling).

• Ability to travel to Foodnet Meals on Wheels weekly.

• Ability to work remotely using personal smartphone and computer, working both independently

and as part of the multidisciplinary team.

• Good planning, organization, time management, and attention to details.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Computer skills with a proficiency using – or a willingness to learn – a variety of software platforms

(e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Drive, graphic design software like Canva, video editing software

like Microsoft Clipchamp).

• A good sense of humor and ability to see good in others.

Position Title: Social Media Coordinator (Ithaca College Work Study)

Reports to: Foodnet Meals on Wheels Community Engagement & Philanthropy Manager

Hours per week: 8 (mostly remote)

• An interest in social services, food security, senior health, and making our community a better

place.

• Ability and experience analyzing and reporting on data from social media analytics is a plus.

• Administrative office experience is a plus.

Pay rate: $17.00 per hour
