HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE OUR FINANCE ASSISTANT – ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE?

• 1–3 years of experience in finance administration, accounts receivable, credit control, collections, customer service, or a similar role.
  
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Experience in the higher education sector is an advantage.
• Experience processing invoices, payments, and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service mindset with the ability to professionally handle account-related enquiries.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FINANCE ASSISTANT – ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
Accounts Receivable Administration

• Prepare and issue student invoices, tuition fee charges, and payment plans.
• Process invoices, adjustments, payments, and account updates accurately within the finance system.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date student and sponsor account records.
• Allocate incoming payments to the appropriate accounts and investigate unallocated transactions.
• Assist with account reconciliations and monitor receivable balances.
• Prepare and support aged debt and accounts receivable reporting.
• Ensure financial records and account activities are complete, accurate, and well maintained.

Debtor Management & Collections

• Monitor outstanding student and sponsor balances to support timely collections.
• Contact students and sponsors via phone, email, SMS, or written correspondence regarding overdue accounts.
• Maintain accurate records of collection activities and customer communications.
• Support the achievement of collection targets through proactive follow-up and account management.
• Escalate complex payment issues, disputes, or collection matters to senior team members when appropriate.

Student & Stakeholder Support

• Respond to enquiries relating to invoices, payments, instalment plans, account balances, and tuition fee liabilities.
• Deliver professional, timely, and customer-focused support to students, sponsors, firms, and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with academic and administrative teams to resolve account-related enquiries.
• Assist students exploring withdrawal, interruption, transfer, or student loan funding options by providing guidance on applicable tuition fee liabilities.
  
  

Compliance & Finance Administration

• Ensure all accounts receivable activities comply with University financial policies, procedures, and controls.
• Maintain complete and audit-ready financial records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance finance processes and operational efficiency.
