Renison invites applications for the full-time, one-year contract position of Student Experience Coordinator (grade 13, starting range $47,680.00 - $59,600.00).

Objectives: Reporting to the Assistant Director, Housing and Student Life, the Student Experience Coordinator plans, coordinates, and facilitates the events and activities for students registered in any English Language Institute program. Develops internal (University of Waterloo) and external (Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding region) relations to gain their support to facilitate tours, presentations, and workshops for English language learners. The Student Experience Coordinator aids in hiring Student Staff (Peer Leaders) throughout the year, provides guidance to student volunteers, and oversees some of the duties for the co-operative student staff in the office, as well as performs a variety of accounting and administrative duties under supervision. Additionally, the incumbent will represent Renison in a manner consistent with the values, goals, and strategic directions of the University College.

Qualifications

  • A College Diploma in a related discipline, such as Education, Social Work, Social Development, Leadership, or Higher Education is required. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • 1 year of work experience in customer service and working with first-year international students with awareness of the needs of first-year international students and English language learners is required.
  • 1 year of experience applying knowledge and understanding of student development theory and student affairs as well as participating in international or cross-cultural living and learning opportunities is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated organization and leadership skills.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills developed through customer service experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously (strong project management abilities), while remaining detail oriented and professional.
  • Proven initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, strong judgment, professionalism, adaptability, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to approach cross-cultural communication and inter-group dynamics with sensitivity and respect.
