Job Title: Student Equipment Checkout Assistant- CCOM
Department: Pulliam School of Journalism and Creative Media
Line Manager: Mark Harris

Work Schedule: Minimum of 2 hours (average 6) per week between the hours of 12pm and 8pm Monday-Friday.
Desired Length of Employment: During academic calendar/ongoing (no summer hours)
Pay Rate: 8.00

The College of Communication is seeking students who are service oriented, well organized and detail-oriented to facilitate equipment checkout reservations.
Student Equipment Checkout Assistants will report to the CCOM Technical Facilities Coordinator and be responsible for all checkout functions during their shift.

Qualifications:
Students must be an undergraduate of Butler University.
Students must have some experience with video and audio equipment.
Students must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Students must have excellent communication skills and be well organized.
Students must be physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities:
Greet students and faculty to the checkout area.
Retrieve equipment from the checkout lockers and scan it back into service.
Prepare reserved equipment for upcoming reservations.
Scan outgoing and incoming equipment using Connect2, the reservations site.
Thoroughly check incoming equipment for missing or damaged parts.
Closing and updating status of broken or missing items in Connect2 as well as reporting them to the Technical Facilities Coordinator.
Look for missing items in other kits as needed.
Communicating with other Student Checkout Assistants regarding anything essential for them to know during their shift.

Other Expectations:
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Communicate openly with other Student Checkout Assistants and the Technical Facilities Coordinator.
Cover other Assistant's hours as needed.

Learning Outcomes:
Student Equipment Checkout Assistants will gain experience in facilitating equipment reservations, light equipment maintenance and managing inventory management using Connect2. Students will also gain skills in resource management and working with both peers and faculty.
