POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering students to join our team as a Student Engineer Intern. In this role, you will support engineering, manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic transportation manufacturing environment.

As a Student Engineer Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to help solve technical challenges, support production activities, and contribute to projects that drive innovation, quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Student Engineer Intern supports the Engineering team by contributing to product design, testing, technical analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while helping develop innovative, high-quality transportation solutions.

  • Use CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks) to develop and refine designs.
  • Assist in creating and releasing engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and research to support design decisions.
  • Prepare for and support testing activities, including data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborate with the team to improve processes and drive innovation.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary Mechanical or Electrical Engineering program.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles, design processes, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with engineering and design software such as Siemens NX (Unigraphics), AutoCAD, or similar CAD platforms is considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous learning.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, co-op, internship, laboratory, or engineering-related experience is considered an asset.

Standard Work Schedule: Day Shift | Monday - Friday | 7:30AM – 4:00PM
