Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of education by connecting prospective students and communities with the life-changing opportunities available through the University of Waikato. Actively promote the Division of Education programmes’ and experience to prospective and current students in order to drive enrolments, inspire student engagement, and help foster a sense of community and motivation.
No two days are the same in this highly relationship-focused role. You will coordinate communications, events and engagement activities, while building meaningful connections with schools, career advisers, community groups, students and whānau.
A key focus of the role is increasing participation from communities that have not traditionally engaged with university study. You’ll use your initiative, communication skills and collaborative approach to create positive experiences that enhance the University’s reputation and support our wider engagement goals.
This is a part-time role (0.5 FTE, 18.75 hours per week), with flexibility around days and hours of work. The role includes visits to schools, occasional travel, and some events outside standard business hours.
Salary will be in the range of $87,624 to $100,214 per year pro rata ($43,812 to $50,107 actual salary range), depending on the skills, knowledge and experience you bring.

You would have demonstrated very strong communication and negotiation skills, are comfortable working in complex situations that require a growth mind set. Strong relational intelligence and the ability to work alongside and motivate others to achieve a common goal are also essential. You are a highly organised professional who loves working with people in a fast-paced environment. Ideally you will have a relevant tertiary qualification and experience in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations.

Te Wānanga Toi Tangata Division of Education includes Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education, Wilf Malcolm Institute of Educational Research, Te Whai Toi Tangata Institute of Professional Learning and Poutama Pounamu. It boasts a richness of research led teaching and professional learning in education in areas including initial teacher education, education and society, human development and digital learning. The Division offers academic programmes in social sciences in education and initial teacher education at undergraduate level, and a range of programmes from counselling to educational leadership.
