KSB has nearly 180 years of service whose mission is to provide comprehensive educational services to all
Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired, birth to 21. KSB prides itself on helping all Kentucky
students who are blind and visually impaired to develop their talents, their skills and attitudes to become
confident, competent and independent adults.

Currently KSB has a vacant Student Development Assistant position in the Residential Section for second shift.
This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work in a dynamic, student-centered environment focused on
empowering the Blind and Visually Impaired community. The successful candidate will play an essential role in
advancing KSD’s mission and values while benefiting from the support, training, and benefits of Kentucky state
government employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision and instruction to students regarding homework and study assistance.
  • Ensure safety and accountability.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dorm.
  • Assist students with independent living skills and conflict resolution skills.
  • Assist with literacy programs and assist students with organization of leisure time.
  • Interprets and apply school policies related to the student development program, including discipline.
  • Maintain appropriate records and submit reports.
  • Attend meetings.
  • Complete and maintain student records and reports.
  • Attend necessary student meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

***This is a 2nd shift position. The hours are Sunday-Thursday 3:30pm– 11:30 pm. ***

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
One year of experience working with individuals in a student development or education program.
