Help shape the future of public transit infrastructure in one of North America's largest cities. As a Co-op Student within our Rail & Transit Construction Management team, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the delivery of critical transportation projects that improve mobility, accessibility, and community connectivity across Toronto. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll contribute to construction inspection and contract administration activities while developing practical knowledge of rail, transit, municipal infrastructure, and capital works construction.

Your Impact

You will support the successful delivery of transit infrastructure projects by:

  • Assisting with construction inspection and contract administration activities on TTC capital projects, including station upgrades, accessibility improvements, transit facilities, track infrastructure, and maintenance yards.
  • Monitoring construction methods, workmanship, and materials to help ensure compliance with contract requirements, quality standards, and safety expectations.
  • Preparing daily site inspection reports and supporting the documentation and follow-up of contract deficiencies and corrective actions.
  • Observing and reporting safety, security, operational, and customer service impacts associated with construction activities.
  • Collaborating with contractors, TTC representatives, utility providers, municipalities, and project stakeholders to support effective project delivery.
  • Contributing to the successful administration of complex construction contracts while gaining valuable field experience.
  • Developing practical knowledge of rail and transit infrastructure, municipal servicing, and construction management practices.
  • Supporting projects that enhance transportation networks, improve accessibility, and strengthen communities across Toronto.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Currently enrolled in a university or college Co-op Engineering program in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest in construction management, infrastructure delivery, or transportation projects.
  • Enthusiasm for working outdoors in active construction environments and the ability to work independently when required.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality in all aspects of project work.
  • Ability to work occasional night shifts and weekends to support project and client requirements.
  • Excellent technical and business writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management capabilities, coupled with a willingness to learn and grow.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $24.00 – $32.25 per hour
MB & ON: $22.50 – $30.25 per hour
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $21.50 – $30.25 per hour
