Job Description

Tutor (CS)

Hourly Pay Rate: $13.00, starting pay is $13.00 per hour and increases by $1.00 after every year of service

The Tutor will assist the mission of the Tulane Community Tutor Program (America Reads). The tutor will provide tutoring services to a middle or elementary school in the New Orleans area.

Responsibilities:

  • Receiving general orientation with the Community Tutor Program and training specific to their sites.
  • Adhering to the rules and regulations of their sites as well as those of the Community Tutor Program.
  • Tutoring students in reading and math subjects
  • Complementing and supporting the academic goals of the school and program.
  • Working together with school and afterschool program personnel to deliver appropriate services.
  • respecting the confidentiality of the children with whom they work.
  • Never being alone with a child or group of children at a site.
  • Meeting with children only at the designated site.
  • Maintaining professional behavior at all times.
  • Meeting with children only at the designated site unless an activity is organized by the site coordinator.
  • Document unusual activities at the tutoring site and submit to the program manager immediately.

Qualifications:

  • Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University
  • A Federal Work Study Award
  • Good academic standing
