Your tasks

4C is a sustainability certification scheme for the coffee and cocoa industry. 4C certification focuses on good agricultural and management practices, including requirements on economic, social and environmental conditions for coffee and cocoa production and processing in order to establish credible sustainable and transparent supply chains. Independent certification bodies verify compliance with the 4C requirements. 4C operates in 20 countries and is the largest certification system in the coffee sector. It is also a highly innovative standard working on a variety of crucial topics such as reduction and offsetting of carbon footprint, biodiversity improvement and empowering women. This is why the System Operations (Certification) team of experts are looking forward to welcome you asStudent Assistant – Sustainable Coffe and Cocoa Certificationat 4C headquarters in Cologne.

Your main duties will be:

• You will support our sustainability managers in all steps of the certification process and EUDR assessment
• You will maintain and update the certification database and help optimise processes
• You will help to prepare trainings and events
• You will communicate with certification system users in English and Spanish via email
• You will support in translating system documents, presentations and other materials into Spanish
• You will engage in research activities for ongoing projects and areas of interest, including topics like deforestation, International and European legislation, Human and Social Due Diligence, etc.

Your profile

• Enrolled student at a German university the area of sustainability, economics, environmental and climate protection, agricultural and forestry management, geography, social science, international business studies or other related fields
• Available for 10-20 hours per week for at least one year (preferably longer) and onsite work in the Cologne office at least once a week
• Excellent written and spoken language skills in English (at least B2) and Spanish (at least B2, preferably native) Additional language skills (especially Portuguese and/or Vietnamese) will be of advantage
• General IT proficiency and very good working knowledge of MS Office
• Excellent PowerPoint skills
• Service-oriented thinking and excellent communication skills, especially in international environments
• Ability to work independently and communicate proactively
• Eye and attention for details
• Excellent problem-solving abilities combined with an independent working style and pragmatic and hands-on attitude
• Supportive and dedicated team player
