About the Ransom Center
The Ransom Center is an internationally renowned humanities research library and museum at The University of Texas at Austin. Its extensive collections provide unique insight into the creative process of writers and artists, deepening our understanding and appreciation of literature, photography, film, art, and the performing arts. Visitors engage with the Center's collections through research and study, exhibitions, publications, and a rich variety of program offerings including readings, talks, symposia, and film screenings.
Purpose:
To support the Department of Library Services Studies staff and patrons.
Responsibilities:
Locates, shelves, and re-shelves manuscripts, books, and other collection materials for patrons and classes.
Communicates with patrons in the Reading Room and assists researchers with materials handling.
Enters and tracks location of materials in automated circulation system.
Special projects as assigned.
Meet satisfactory academic progress standards as set by the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid
Must be enrolled in appropriate credit hours as required by the student's academic or non-academic title.
Must be able to work between 8a.m. to 5p.m (Monday-Fridays).
Have a professional and helpful attitude
Good communication skills
Interest in learning about the Humanities.
Preference is given to those who have a federal work-study award to apply for this position.
$10-15 per hour
May work around standard office conditions, including repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
May stand or sit for long periods of time.
10-19hrs worked per week
Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm
