At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we may not be developing lightsabers to fight the dark side of the force, but our innovations often sound like something out of science fiction. That’s because we’re shaping the technologies and processes for the future of digital manufacturing, packaging and scanning technology, and many other laser-based applications, such as 3D printing. At Fraunhofer ILT, a novel, compact technology for the automated deflection of laser beams is being developed, enabling the use of high-power laser sources in industrial production processes. Here, you will work on the development of compact, ultra-fast drives for the automated deflection of laser beams—the basis for new applications in 3D printing and surface processing, such as in the manufacture of batteries and semiconductors. You will work directly on high-tech demonstrators used in industry and contribute your own ideas. Why this is exciting for you: Here, you’ll work on high-speed drives and lasers in the field of precision engineering, pushing the limits of what’s possible; you’ll quickly see your results in working prototypes; and you’ll be part of industry-relevant research on high-impact topics.
