Primary Duties and Responsibilities


The Department of Medicine is seeking a Student Programmer to work closely with a faculty member and provide programming support for ongoing research projects. In this role, you will assist with coding and data analysis using Python, R, and other software tools as needed.
Responsibilities include developing and troubleshooting scripts, supporting data processing workflows, and contributing to computational tasks that advance the research team’s objectives. This position offers hands‑on experience in scientific programming and an opportunity to apply technical skills in an academic research environment.

Hourly range: $18.20-$30.00


Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Training in advanced mathematics, data science and software engineering
  • Extensive experience with Python programming
  • Expertise in workflow optimization
  • Training in machine learning and AI
  • Highly organized, efficient, and attentive to detail
  • Analytical, resourceful, and able to work independently
  • Strong computational and writing skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Quick learner and hard worker, as demonstrated by a GPA above 3.8
  • Registered UCLA student
