About This Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, energetic, and highly organised Student and Academic Administration Officer to join the School of Languages and Cultures. In this role, you will deliver high-quality customer service by providing friendly, accurate, and informative support to students, academic staff, and professional colleagues. Reporting to the School Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth operation of the School through the delivery of a broad range of administrative services and processes.

This is a varied and fast-paced position where you will provide high-level administrative support across teaching and learning activities, respond to day-to-day enquiries, and maintain key systems and processes. Working within a collaborative and inclusive environment, you will be supported to build your skills, develop your career, and make a meaningful contribution to positive student and academic outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver accurate, timely advice and support to students, staff, and stakeholders in line with University policies and legislation.

  • Process a wide range of student administration tasks including admissions, enrolments, progression, exams, and study abroad.

  • Support academic administration activities such as timetabling, course profiles, Blackboard updates, and grade processing.

  • Contribute to process improvement, data accuracy, and the maintenance of University systems, websites, and publications.

  • Provide general administrative and customer service support, including event participation, meeting support, and responding to enquiries.

About You

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant area or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.

  • A sound understanding of administrative processes relevant to student and academic administration, or the ability to rapidly gain such knowledge.

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in written, oral and interpersonal communication with demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment and to work independently and collaboratively within the team and across other organisational units.

  • A strong orientation to the provision of a high level of customer service.

  • An empathy with an ability to communicate with students, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Experience in a tertiary education institution or other large organisation in an area related to student administration would be highly regarded.

  • Knowledge of University student computer systems and packages or the ability to rapidly gain knowledge of the systems e.g. Microsoft Office, SI-net, Jac, Business Objects, Course & Program management systems, eLearning systems, online application systems, and the use of CRM systems would be desirable.
