About the Opportunity
As our Student Advising team continues to grow,we'reseeking two Student Advisors to join this newly established function and make a meaningful impact on thestudentexperience within the College of Business and Law.
As a Student Advisor,you'llprovidespecialist advice,advocacyand support to students throughout their university journey.You'llmonitorstudent progress,identifythose who may be at risk, and deliver tailored, proactive interventions that help students stay engaged, overcomechallengesand achieve success in their studies.
You'llwork closely with academic staff, Student Lifecycle & Experience colleagues and specialists from across the University toprovidehigh-quality advice, connect students with relevant support services and coordinate strategies that contribute to student success,retentionand wellbeing. Student Advisors may support a range of student cohorts based on discipline, campuslocationand/or mode of study, with a particular focus on supporting students who needadditionalguidance to thrive.
To be successful in this role,you'llhave:
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse student and stakeholder groups.
Strongorganisationaland problem-solving skills, including experience managing multiple priorities and complex caseloads.
Experience researching,evaluatingand interpreting data to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes,advisingprocesses and local practices.
A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to team goals.
The ability to quickly develop and apply detailed knowledge of academic,administrativeand policy frameworks to support diverse student cohorts.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex information,identifysolutionsandprovideinformed advice to students.
Demonstrated experience building and managing relationships with multiple stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
Experience supporting students through case management, including developing support plans,monitoringprogressand coordinating interventions that promote wellbeing, engagement,persistenceand success.
High levelsof self-awareness and empathy, with a commitment to reflection, continuouslearningand professional growth.
The ability to think creatively and critically,identifyopportunities forimprovementand contribute to enhancingadvisingpractices and the student experience.
