Student Administrative Assistant

Classification:
Full time, Term (June 30, 2026, to August 28, 2026)

Salary: $18.25 per hour

Location: Williams Lake, BC

The Tŝilhqot’in National Government is based in Williams Lake, British Columbia serving six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tl'etinqox, Tl'esqox, Tŝideldel, Xeni Gwet'in, and Yuneŝit'in. The Tŝilhqot’in National Government’s mission is to support and empower Tŝilhqot’in peoples to exercise their rights to self-determination within their traditional territories in ways which reflect Tŝilhqot’in philosophy, values, experience and culture.

The Student Administrative Assistant provides clerical and administrative support to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the office. This role assists staff with data entry, filing, scheduling, and general office duties while gaining valuable workplace experience in a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to departments as needed
  • Maintain and organize filing systems, records, and databases
  • Schedule meetings, appointments, and calendar events
  • Prepare, format, and distribute documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Perform data entry and ensure accuracy of information
  • Assist with reception duties and greet visitors professionally
  • Sort, scan, and distribute incoming mail and documents
  • Support special projects and team activities as assigned
  • Assist with photocopying, printing, scanning, and document management
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Help coordinate events, workshops, or meetings
  • Perform other related administrative duties as required

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in school and must be taking full time courses in September 2026
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable
  • Comfortable using office equipment such as printers, scanners, and photocopiers
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware
  • Lifting or moving up to 20lbs may be required
