Generally, Monday-Friday, during regular college hours, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Flex schedule necessary, evenings and some weekends as required for special events. This is a part-time, wage position, limited to 1500 hours within a 12-month period.

Blue Ridge Community College is hiring a part-time Student Activities & Recreation Support Specialist to help create an engaging campus experience for our students. This role blends administrative support, event coordination, and direct student interaction. The successful candidate will:

  • Manage procurement processes for Student Activities/Rec Center.
  • Help plan and execute student-centered events from concept to completion.
  • Serve as a welcoming, reliable point of contact for students through hands-on customer service.
  • Provide coverage at the Recreation Center as needed (must be available Monday–Thursday until 6:00 PM, as needed).

This is a part-time, wage position, limited to 1500 hours within a 12-month period, with no benefits. There is potential eligibility for educational assistance for BRCC classes and job-related training and/or certifications.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Outstanding customer service experience with demonstrated ability to interface with technology
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and constituencies to assist prospective students
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills including flexibility and prioritization, attention to detail, and record-keeping

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in Student Activities, procurement, event planning, marketing, or other Student Services related fields
  • Related education, training and/or work experience
  • Experience working in college or university setting
  • Ideal candidate will be creative and student-focused
