Job Description

Working under the general direction of Nursing School Faculty and Staff, the Student Academic Support Assistant will provide administrative, technology, and course related support for academic activities. The student will assist with Canvas course management, virtual class sessions, lecturer recordings and other activities supporting a Program Director, other faculty and students. This position requires professionalism, attention to detail, reliability and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff and students.

Essential Functions

  1. Assist with management and maintenance of Canvas course content, including entering and organizing quiz, examination and other course materials.
  2. Provide support for scheduled virtual course sessions, including managing Zoom links and assisting faculty with basic technology needs during class.
  3. Assistant with editing Echo360 recordings of live lecturers and uploading completed recordings and related materials to Canvas.
  4. Coordinate with faculty regarding course related activities and material as, including preparation and review of final Jeopardy or other academic review activities.
  5. Provide excellent customer service when responding to questions from faculty, staff and students, including answering telephone inquiries and appropriately directing individuals for additional assistance when necessary.
  6. Work collaboratively with faculty, staff and other student employees to support academic and Nursing activities.
  7. Assist with Nursing School programs and events as needed. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required based on scheduled events or academic activities.
  8. Perform other related projects and duties as assigned.

Hourly Rate: $13.44 - $13.92 per hours, commensurate with expereience and in accordance with Univesity Student Employment guidelines

Work hours per week: 10 - 20

Qualifications

Qualifications

Current undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing.

Customer Service, administrative, academic or related work experience preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, students and other members of the university community.

Professional demeanor and genuine interest in supporting students and faculty in an academic environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to details.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Ability to maintain consistent and reliable attendance and take ownership of assigned projects and responsibilities,

Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle academic and student information

Required Skills

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and appropriate supervision

Demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm, reliability and strong sense of responsibility

Basic proficiency with computers and common software applications

Familiarity with Microsoft Office; experience with Canvas, Zoom, and/or Ech360 is preferred. Training may be provided as appropriate.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally and courteously.
