The Work You Will Do:
Structures Designer II / District Four / Transportation Development / Consultant Project Management /Structures
This position will prepare Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) produced contract plan sheets. This position will also assist in the review and evaluation of consultant produced reports, plans and design calculations for structures under the guidance of Technical Professionals.

Annual Salary Range:

A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $ 1,976.00 will be added to the annual salary.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Prepares Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) produced contract plan sheets. Ensures plans have been developed in accordance with appropriate design criteria, policy and procedures. Assists in the preparation of design calculations, cost estimates, quantities and other engineering functions required for the production of bridges, miscellaneous highway structures, retaining walls, box culverts, multi-post signs and sound barrier walls under the guidance of Technical Professionals. Provides technical support for preparation of engineering reports and other documents associated with structural projects. Assist with quality control of in-house design calculations and contract plans.
Assists in the review and evaluation of consultant produced reports, plans and design calculations for structures under the guidance of Technical Professionals. Ensure plans and designs are produced in accordance with American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Florida Department of Transportation (Department) and other approved design specifications. Assist Technical Professionals with the coordination of responses to State Structures Design Office and FHWA as necessary. Identifies and analyzes commonly occurring errors and brings them to the attention of the Technical Professional.
Provides technical assistance and support for preliminary engineering, consultant acquisition and post-design activities. Assist with the preparation of scopes of services, staff hours, project schedules, negotiations and construction cost estimates.
Provides technical assistance to District staff as needed in support of Project Development & Engineering, Value Engineering, Construction and Maintenance activities. Assists with managing the miscellaneous structures design contract. Attend technical training as required.
