Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft. We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space. We're a small,
highly capable team doing work that matters — and we're growing.
This is a rare opportunity to own the structural and mechanical integrity of a hypersonic vehicle program from the ground up.
As Structures & Mechanisms Lead, you will be the subject matter expert for airframes, wings, internal structures, actuators, mechanisms and ground support equipment — from concept through to qualification.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will lead and develop a team of engineers, review and approve design and analysis artefacts, and provide expert direction across the broader engineering team. You'll also be central to ensuring our engineering processes are rigorous, current, and continuously improving.
Responsibilities include:
We are a 50-person company growing fast in one of the most technically demanding fields in aerospace. The pace is fast, the expectations are high and the environment is still evolving. Priorities shift as the program evolves. Processes are maturing in real time. Some days the path forward isn’t clear, and you'll need to find it yourself. We don't say this to be dramatic — we say it because it's the reality, and the people who thrive here are energised by it, not unsettled by it.
You will thrive here if you
To hit the ground running in this role, you’ll need:
Bonus points for experience with hypersonic or space systems, Siemens NX and Teamcentre, or weight and space-constrained product design.
If you want to do the most technically challenging work of your career — and you're honest with yourself that our environment will enable you to do your best work — we'd love to hear from you.
Benefits include:
If you're looking for your next big challenge in an environment that will push you and reward ownership, we'd love to hear from you. If you're looking for a steady, structured role in a mature organisation, we're probably not the right fit right now — but we might be in a few years.

Hypersonix Launch Systems builds and operates hydrogen-fuelled scramjet powered autonomous aircraft for a range of government, defence, aerospace, and commercial customers.
The first hypersonic flyer to launch is DART AE (Additive Engineering). DART AE is a 3.5 metre long hypersonic aircraft that is powered by a single SPARTAN scramjet engine and makes significant use of 3-D printed high temperature metal alloys. It uses hydrogen fuel and will fly at Mach 7.
The launch is part of the HyCAT program by the Defense Innovation Unit. Hypersonix was the first company to be selected for the program in March 2023, targeting a first launch for Q1 2026 in the United States.
Hypersonix is revolutionizing hypersonic flight technology with a cloud-based software-as-a-service digital twin. By combining extensive knowledge and data from atmospheric flight tests, this virtual replica accurately predicts real-world outcomes. It allows rapid and repetitive testing of materials, designs, manufacturing techniques and enables global 3D printing of components through secure additive manufacturing.
Hypersonix product road map also includes VISR, a high-speed suborbital Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and rapid airfreight flyer demonstrator as well as Delta Velos Orbiter for small satellite launch in a non-ballistic trajectory.
