Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Structure Lead Engineer to lead the structural engineering design review, coordination, technical governance, and construction support activities for a major Airport, Infrastructure, and Airfield Development Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, constructability, and compliance of all structural elements associated with passenger terminals, concourses, control towers, cargo facilities, maintenance buildings, airfield support structures, bridges, tunnels, retaining structures, utility structures, and associated airport infrastructure.

The Structural Lead Engineer will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, overseeing multidisciplinary coordination, supporting construction activities, and ensuring compliance with project requirements, international engineering standards, and airport operational requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the review, coordination, and technical assessment of structural engineering designs for airport buildings and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance to structural engineers and multidisciplinary project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with project objectives, engineering standards, contractual requirements, and client specifications.
  • Support engineering planning and resource coordination for structural engineering activities.
  • Review structural calculations, design reports, finite element analysis (FEA), shop drawings, specifications, and engineering submissions.
  • Verify the adequacy of reinforced concrete, structural steel, composite, precast, and foundation designs.
  • Review structural systems for passenger terminals, concourses, cargo terminals, aircraft maintenance facilities, utility buildings, bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, and airfield support structures.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize structural solutions while maintaining safety, constructability, durability, and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate structural interfaces with Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Airfield, Utilities, ICT, Security, and Baggage Handling disciplines.
  • Ensure proper integration of structural components within passenger terminals, runways, taxiways, cargo aprons, aircraft stands, utility corridors, and airport operational facilities.
  • Participate in BIM coordination workshops, clash detection reviews, and multidisciplinary design meetings.
  • Facilitate timely resolution of engineering interface issues.
  • Provide structural engineering support during construction, installation, temporary works, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, temporary works proposals, RFIs, and material submittals.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved structural designs and specifications.
  • Resolve technical issues affecting construction progress, structural performance, and project delivery.
  • Coordinate with the Client, airport authorities, consultants, contractors, utility providers, and regulatory agencies on structural engineering matters.
  • Support engineering approvals, technical submissions, and regulatory reviews.
  • Participate in design review workshops, technical meetings, and project coordination sessions.
  • Ensure structural engineering interfaces are effectively managed throughout the project.
  • Ensure all structural works comply with project specifications, quality standards, international codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in technical audits, engineering reviews, and quality inspections.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved structural procedures and construction methodologies.
  • Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
  • Identify structural engineering risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Lead constructability reviews and engineering risk assessments.
  • Evaluate design changes and assess their impact on structural integrity, project schedule, and cost.
  • Support resilience planning and long-term asset performance objectives.
  • Prepare and review structural engineering reports, design assessments, technical recommendations, and progress updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of structural design reviews, approvals, engineering decisions, and site observations.
  • Provide regular engineering progress reports, risk updates, and technical advice to Project Management.
  • Support preparation of project closeout documentation and asset handover requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all structural engineering activities.
  • Ensure structural designs incorporate Safety-in-Design principles and support airport operational safety requirements.
  • Support compliance with project HSE policies, environmental regulations, and sustainability objectives.
  • Contribute to safe construction practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering design, design review, and construction supervision on major infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience on airport terminals, airfield facilities, transportation hubs, or large-scale infrastructure developments
  • Strong experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, composite structures, deep foundations, retaining structures, and complex building systems.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of international structural design standards including ACI, AISC, Eurocodes, BS Standards, IBC, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with BIM platforms and multidisciplinary digital engineering coordination.
  • Strong understanding of airport terminal structures, airfield support facilities, cargo terminals, maintenance hangars, and associated infrastructure.
  • Excellent analytical, technical review, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex airport project environment.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), MIStructE, or equivalent professional registration.
  • Experience on international airport expansion or greenfield airport development projects.
  • Knowledge of ICAO, FAA, IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and other aviation-related engineering standards.
  • Experience working under FIDIC or similar international contract frameworks.
  • Familiarity with seismic design, blast-resistant design, progressive collapse analysis, and resilience planning.
  • Experience supporting Design-Build, EPC, PMC, or Delivery Partner project delivery models.
  • Strong stakeholder management, technical leadership, and authority liaison experience.
