Structural Steel Shop Foreman – 2nd Shift

Location: York, PA

Job Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time

Shift: 2nd Shift

Starting Pay: $39.00/hour, plus $3.00/hour 2nd-shift differential; higher pay available based on experience

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Structural Steel Shop Foreman to lead second-shift fabrication operations. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for coordinating employees, materials, equipment, production schedules, quality, and deliveries while maintaining a safe and efficient shop.

Must have structural steel fabrication experience and prior foreman/leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct and support shop employees during daily fabrication activities.
• Manage personnel, equipment, tools, materials, and workflow for the shop.
• Maintain production and fabrication schedules and make adjustments as needed.
• Coordinate deliveries and help ensure projects remain on schedule.
• Establish and communicate standard fabrication procedures.
• Monitor finished work to maintain quality-control standards and delivery requirements.
• Review production processes and identify ways to improve efficiency, quality, and employee performance.
• Communicate with project management, logistics, purchasing, other departments, and fabrication locations regarding schedules, product status, quality, and deliveries.
• Maintain appropriate equipment, tools, facilities, and inventory levels.
• Work with purchasing and management to maintain needed materials and supplies.
• Establish working relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Balance shop workload and communicate staffing or production needs to management.
• Adjust work hours, including overtime and Saturdays when necessary, to support delivery schedules.
• Enforce company policies, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Structural steel fabrication industry experience — required.
• Previous foreman, supervisor, or shop leadership experience — required.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, personnel, and deadlines.
• Ability to work 2nd shift, overtime, and Saturdays as needed.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and productivity.
