Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector

Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 1st Shift
Starting Pay: $31.00/hour — higher depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday; Saturday overtime available

We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector to inspect fabricated steel components and help maintain quality throughout the production process. Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters or fabricators may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Inspect fabricated structural steel throughout the production process.
• Identify and document nonconformances in accordance with AWS D1.1/D1.5 requirements.
• Compare materials and finished components against shop drawings and specifications
• Perform in-process and final inspections, including dimensional layout and part placement
• Assist with AISC QC audits
• Work with production teams to identify, document, and resolve quality concerns.
• Support quality improvement activities and process improvements.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and quality standards.
• D1.1 and/or D1.5 welding certification preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues accurately.
