Job Description

Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear powered submarines for the US Navy and we are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth! We are looking for people who want to learn and grow within our Grinder Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines.

Working with various metals and pipes to be formed within a high degree of tolerances as a Grinder uses a variety of pneumatic grinding tools to prepare a wide range of steel and alloy structures and pipe for welding and to finish welds. Grinding preparations include removal of paint, edge bevels on steel, clean jagged edges, grind welds flush and cut and bevel various diameter pipes.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED or 2+ years of relevant technical experience
  • 5+ years of relevant grinding experience

Preferred:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Vocational, technical colleges, apprentice programs, Military, shipbuilding, manufacturing and automotive experience

Skills

Candidate must be able to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, drawings and diagrams. Must be able to work all shifts and in all environments as well as Radiological areas of the boat. Capable of qualifying as a Radiological worker. Willing to accept road job assignments. Willing to obtain elevated NDT qualifications, Limited Magnetic Particle Inspection, Visual Inspection etc. Willing to learn to grind pipe.
