Job Description

 
The Structural Fitter reports directly to the Foreman and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of fabricating, fitting, connecting, and joining various types of metal parts for metal structures. The incumbent selects weld equipment, interprets blueprints and determines which specifications to apply.   
 
Schedule: 4 weeks ON 2 weeks OFF 
  • 7 days per week, 11.5 hours per day
  • 80.5 hours per week

 Essential Job Functions:   
  • Analyzes blueprints and structural drawings 
  • Adheres to applicable welding methods in completion of structural fabrications 
  • Utilizes manual and mechanical processes to fabricate, fit and erect various steel configurations 
  • Cleans and prepare metal workpieces using scrapers, chemical solutions and/or grinders to ensure a smooth and contaminant-free surface 
  • Cuts, repairs, and assembles building components to form complete structures 
  • Conducts post-welding activities such as grinding, cleaning, and polishing of workpieces 
  • Assists with rigging, bolt-up and structural placement activities
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:   
  • High School Diploma, or Equivalent 
  • Skill in operating the following tools and machines: band saw; drill press; plasma cutter, track torch
  • Current and valid driver’s license, with clean driving record
  • “NSTC” – North Slope Training Certification
Post Job Offer Requirements:   
  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. 
  • Take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Examination.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:    
  • Knowledge of industrial structural fabrication, fitting methods, and welding techniques 
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment and tools such as but not limited to; welder torch, LN-25, electrode holder, gas welding and welding electrode, grinders, and end grinders, 
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations and industrial oilfield practices related to equipment/tool use and operation 
  • Knowledge and experience in oilfield operations, preferred 
  • Skill in operating the following tools and machines: shop band saw; ironworker shear; drill press; plasma cutter, track torch 
  • Ability to conduct appropriate tests to identify and correct faults in framework of structure 
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly
